Mel Kiper has predicted that he will be the first Division I-AA player taken in the NFL Draft in April. If you have watched Cornell's 327-pound Kevin Boothe manhandle the opposition over the last few years, you won't be surprised by that projection.
“He can personally take over a game from the offensive line position, running the ball, passing the ball,” said senior safety Kevin Rex. “He anchors the offensive line and allows our offense to do so many different things because of his ability to blow people off the ball and protect our quarterback's backside."
Boothe has been clearing a path for the Big Red ballcarriers, who average 250 rushing yards a game. That mark leads the Ivy League and ranks 10th nationally.
But the NFL talk seems to be coming a little too soon for Boothe. “When you come in as a freshman, you think, ‘I've got four chances. I've got all the time in the world.' But in the blink of an eye, it is week 10, and you are playing Penn and your college career is over."
Recently Chris Feaver of the Ithaca Journal sat down with Boothe and his feature is available by clicking here.
