Icers From Four Schools Named to National Team

Hockey announced the roster for the 2003 United States Women's
National Team, which will compete in the International Ice Hockey
Federation Women's World Championship, to be held April 3-9 in
Beijing, China. Brown's senior goaltender Pam Dreyer (Eagle River,
AK) and senior forward/defender Kim Insalaco (Rochester, N.Y.) were
both named to the team. Former Brown star and two-time Olympian Katie
King '97 (Salem, N.H.) was also selected. Brown, along with
Providence and Harvard, had the most number of current and former
players selected. All in all, eight Ivies were chosen.
The announcement was made by USA Hockey President Walter L. Bush,
Jr., International Council Chairman Ron DeGregorio, Executive
Director Doug Palazzari and U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Ben
Smith.
Dreyer, the 2002 ECAC Championship MVP and two-time All-ECAC
selection, currently boasts a 1.76 career goals against average with
1,492 saves and a .932 save percentage. This season, she has logged
1044:43 minutes in net with 405 saves and a .908 save percentage.
 Insalaco
currently ranks 14th on Brown's all-time scoring list with 37 goals
and 54 assists for 106 points in 116 games. She was named to the ECAC
All-Tournament Team last season after scoring three goals, including
the game-winner in the ECAC Championship game in overtime. This
season, Insalaco has one goal and ten assists for 11 points, playing
in all 20 games for the Bears.
King is Brown's all-time leading scorer with 123 goals and 83 assists
for 206 points, playing for the Bears from 1993-1997. She was the
1996-97 ECAC Player of the Year and a three-time First Team All-ECAC
selection. King was a member of the 1998 Nagano and 2002 Salt Lake
City Olympic Team, helping lead Team USA to a gold and silver
medal.
Harvard's Angela Ruggiero, two-time Olympic medalist and 2003 Patty
Kazmaier Award candidate and 2002 Olympic silver medalist Julie Chu
were also named to the team. Fomer Crimson captain A.J. Mleczko was
named to the roster. Dartmouth's Kristin King, a 2002 graduate. She
played four years for the Big Green and was co-captain of the 2001-02
team.
Princeton's Andrea Kilbourne rounds out the roster for the Ivy League
representatives.
Team USA holds a 27-7-1 all-time record at the IIHF Women's World
Championship, having earned silver medals in each of the seven
tournaments since the event's inception in 1990.
