Senior wide receiver Carl Morris, of Sterling, Va., has been chosen The Sports Network's Division I-AA Offensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the Crimson's 28-23 win over 23rd-ranked Holy Cross last Saturday at the Stadium.

Morris, a Payton Award candidate as the nation's top I-AA player, caught 11 passes for 210 yards with touchdown grabs of 60 and 34 yards. His reception total was the fourth-highest in school history and his yardage mark was third-best and just 11 yards behind his own school record. Morris' first TD grab came on a perfect strike from senior quarterback Neil Rose to give the Crimson a 14-0 lead and marked his fifth career scoring grab of at least 60 yards.. His second touchdown was a 34-yarder on a split end option pass from Rodney Byrnes that made it 28-10.

He also lined up at quarterback and rushed for nine yards and a key first down as the Crimson ran out the clock over the game's final 5:03, and had a 14-yard punt return to give him 227 all-purpose yards in the win.

Morris leads the nation in reception yards per game and is tied with Brown's Chas Gessner for receptions per game. Morris has 166 career catches, one of eight school records he holds. Morris was the 2001 Ivy League Player of the Year and an Associated Press Third Team All-American.
