- PLAYER OF THE WEEK -

Jessie Cooper, Brown (Junior, Middle Blocker, Tustin, Calif.)
Cooper recorded 20 kills on 31 attempts while making only three errors against Dartmouth. She had a hitting percentage of .548 while registering six blocks vs. the Big Green. Against Harvard, she posted a League high of 29 kills. She also had six blocks against the Crimson. Cooper needs 152 kills to move into the top five of the Brown record books. With 65, she also needs just 22 more blocks to move into the top five for blocks in a season.

- ROOKIE OF THE WEEK -

Kaego Ogbechie, Harvard (Freshman, Outside Hitter, Diamond Bar, Calif.)
Ogbechie registered the first triple-double in Harvard volleyball history against Yale with a match-high 25 kills, 14 digs and 10 blocks. The next night she came back with a double-double on 13 kills and 15 digs against Brown. She had a hitting percentage of .360 for weekend. Ogbechie now leads the team with a kill average of 3.81 and a dig average of 3.34. This is her third rookie of the week honor.


- HONOR ROLL -

Angela Barbera (Cornell, Junior, Outside Hitter)
A native of Emmett, Idaho, Barbera led the Big Red sweep of Penn and Princeton on the road. She set a match and career-high 18 kills while adding 15 digs for her first career double-double in a victory versus defending conference champions, Princeton. She came back the next day to break both career highs with 19 kills and 17 digs in notching her second career double-double while hitting .302.

Katie Beauregard (Columbia, Junior, Outside Hitter)
The Huntington Beach, Calif., native had a double-double this weekend. In the Lions loss to Penn, she had 12 kills and 18 digs. In Columbia’s 3-1 victory over Princeton, Beauregard posted 11 kills and 20 digs.

Stacey Carter (Pennsylvania, Junior, Outside Hitter)
The Dallas, Tex., native was Penn’s most consistent performer for the weekend. She hit .360 against Columbia with 10 kills. She turned in the Quakers’ best performance of the day against Cornell with a .444 hitting percentage and recorded 12 kills and two blocks.

Erin Denniston (Harvard, Senior, Outside Hitter)
Denniston, of Irvine, Calif., posted a double-double in each of Harvard’s matches this weekend, notching 20 kills and 18 digs in a win over Yale and a team-high 16 kills and 10 digs against Brown.

Dana Loberg (Yale, Junior, Outside Hitter)
In the Bulldogs’ two losses for the weekend, Loberg, of Los Angeles, Calif., registered 23 kills and 14 digs against Harvard. On Saturday against Dartmouth, she finished with seven kills, nine digs, six block assists and six service aces.

Chelsea Morgan (Dartmouth, Sophomore, Setter)
The Ashland, Ore., native collected 76 set assists for the weekend. In the win against the Bulldogs, Morgan reeled off 58 assists and made just one ball handling error. She had a .987 success rate at setting, committing just one error all weekend.

Ana Yoerg (Princeton, Senior, Setter)
A native of Bloomfield, Mich., Yoerg had 86 assists in Princeton’s two losses. She registered 40 assists in the loss to Cornell and 46 in the loss to Columbia.



- TEAM NOTES -

BROWN (9-7, 4-0 Ivy)

The Brown Bears continued its perfect 2001 Ivy League record by posting wins against Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend ... The Bears defeated the Big Green in three games and beat the Crimson in a five-game match ... In the match versus Dartmouth, Brown recorded a hitting percentage of .429, totaling 59 kills on 112 attempts ... In the match against Harvard, two Bears created new career highs, as Jessie Cooper (Tustin, Calif.) topped her career kill high with 29 and Kim Highlund (Newark, Calif.) had a career high in digs with 23 ... The Bears now stand at 4-0 in the Ivy League and 9-7 overall ... This weekend Brown travels to Princeton and Pennsylvania.

COLUMBIA (8-5, 2-2 Ivy)

After losing to Princeton, 3-1, last season, the Lions came back to defeat the Tigers by the same score on Saturday ... The win improved Columbia’s record to 2-2 in the conference with 10 League game to go, which is one victory better than its Ivy record for all of last season ... Kathy Lavold (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Madia Willis (Hyattsville, Md.) combined for 45 kills in the Lions’ victory over Princeton, 23 and 22 respectively ... Lavold also led the team with a .348 hitting percentage and eight blocks ... Julia Topik (Irvine, Calif.) had 93 assists for the weekend including a match high 56 versus the Tigers ... On Friday, Columbia will host Harvard and then on Saturday, Dartmouth comes to Levien Gymnasium to face the Lions.

CORNELL (11-5, 3-1 Ivy)

Cornell swept Princeton and Pennsylvania on the road to move to 3-1 in Ivy League play and a League-best 11-5 overall ... The Big Red is now 10-2 in its last 12 matches ... Cornell held its two opponents this weekend to .120 hitting and has held opponents to .123 hitting over its last 12 matches and .157 overall for the year ... Sophomore Debbie Quibell (Atlanta, Ga.) had a pair of double-double efforts on the weekend, giving her a team-best of eight ... Senior Jennifer Borncamp (Encino, Calif.) enters this weekend three kills shy of moving into third place in school history ... She currently has 919 ... Junior Angela Barbera (Emmett, Idaho) set career highs in kills and digs in back-to-back games, tallying 17 and 15 against Princeton and 19 and 17 against Penn.

DARTMOUTH (7-7, 2-2 Ivy)
Coach Ann Marie Larese

Dartmouth senior Ashley Dean (La Jolla, Calif.) had 25 digs this weekend, leaving her just 66 digs away from becoming the school’s all-time leader ... Senior Jen Madsen (Spokane, Wash.) is out for at least two weeks with a broken finger ... The injury could span for the rest of the season but has opened the door to a pair of sophomores — Lindsay Sheffield (Houston, Tex.) and Lindsay Gorzeman (Roswell, N.M.) ... The two “Lindsays” played a key role in the Big Green’s win at Yale ... Gorzeman appeared in four games and had nine kills and three blocks while Sheffield collected 10 kills and three blocks in three games ... Junior Andrea Sea (Stuart, Fla.) continues to rack up blocks as she had five over the weekend ... Sea had 10 kills in the win against the Bulldogs ... Dartmouth played 13 players in the loss to Brown.

HARVARD (8-5, 2-2 Ivy)

Harvard has played five-game matches in its last three outings, winning two and losing one ... Junior setter Mindy Jellin (Stockton, Calif.) had the 10th best assist average in the nation last week ... She continued her consistent play with 74 assists in the win over Yale ... Jellin also posted eight digs and six kills ... Junior Nicole Meunier (Surfside, Fla.) was one of three hitters to notch more than 20 kills against Yale ... The outside hitter had 22 to join Kaego Ogbechie (Diamond Bar, Calif.) with 25 and Erin Denniston (Irvine, Calif.) with 20 ... Meunier also had 23 digs while Allison Bendush (Monarch Beach, Calif.) had a match-high 26 digs ... Four of the games against Yale were decided by two points and the other was decided by three points ... Harvard plays on the road this weekend to wrap up a five match roadstand before returning to Cambridge for a home match against Pennsylvania on October 26.

PENNSYLVANIA (8-4, 2-1 Ivy)

The Quakers had a bit of letdown after a victory against Princeton two weeks ago ... Pennsylvania defeated a much improved Columbia team on Friday, 3-0 and then fell to Cornell, 3-0, to end its eight-match win streak ... The loss was also just the second one of the season at The Palestra ... Junior defensive specialist Kai Gonsorowski (Moorhead, Minn.) had 31 digs and four service aces in the two matches ... Stephanie Horan (Carle Place, N.Y.) is now second all-time at Penn in career digs with 1,072 ... She needs 242 more to take over first place held by Melissa Ingalls (Penn, ‘89) ... Head Coach Kerry Major is just one win shy of 100 career coaching victories.

PRINCETON (6-7, 0-3 Ivy)
Coach Glenn Nelson

Princeton, the four-time defending Ivy League champion, lost to Cornell and Columbia to fall to 0-3 in League play ... The Tigers have not lost three Ivy games since the 1992 season when they went 4-3 in the league ... Princeton had to play most of the weekend without sophomore outside hitter Kellie Cramm (Laguna Beach, Calif.) ... Ana Yoerg (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) had 86 assists in Princeton’s two losses, registering 40 assists in the loss to Cornell and 46 in the loss to Columbia ... The Tigers are now 6-7 overall and will be looking for their first Ivy League win of the season when they host Brown and Yale this weekend.

YALE (6-7, 0-4 Ivy)

Yale finished the weekend with two losses to Harvard and Dartmouth ... Sophomore setter Alison Lungstrum (Lawrence, Kan.) recorded a quadruple-double with 12 kills, 56 assists, 14 digs and 10 block assists in Yale’s 3-2 loss to Harvard ... The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-4 in the League and below .500 for the first time this season ... Senior captain Carissa Abbott (Encino, Calif.) had 12 block assists in both games over the weekend ... Junior outside hitter Dana Loberg (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded 23 kills and 14 digs against the Crimson ... Yale hits the road to face Penn and Princeton this weekend, the top two teams in the League last year.
